Sanford is located on the shores of Lake Monroe and the St. John's River and is less than 30 minutes away from the World's Most Famous Beach, Daytona Beach.
Sanford itself is the home of many things that would draw people to the area, including the Central Florida Zoo, the Marina and a Civic Center, and is the Seminole County seat. The city is easily accessed from Interstate 4 and the 417 Greeneway, and is also home for the southern most terminus for Amtrak Auto Train and the Orlando Sanford Airport. More than 47000 year round residents call Sanford home, with 1500 more joining in the winter.
Outdoor activities are enjoyed year round with an average temperature of just 72 degrees. Summer temperatures rarely exceed 95 degrees. One of the best ways to enjoy the City of Sanford is to take the historic downtown walking tour. The adventure begins at the famous clock located in the center of town. The town has also served at a location for many movies seeking a historic small town feel, including the major motion picture, My Girl.
